Five Time Saving Tips to Make the Most of Your Day

Time, time, time. Where does it go? No matter your occupation, time is something that many people have a hard time managing. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed with work, school, kids, and before you know it, it’s bedtime again. What can you do to make the most out of your day when it seems like the hours go by too fast?

1. Prepare your stuff the night before

Doing a little planning the night before will set you up for success the next day! Preparing can mean laying out the clothes you are going to wear, packing your lunch for the next day, or putting your bags in the car. We are human, and sometimes, we accidentally oversleep. By preparing the night before, you run less of a risk of forgetting something while you’re are frantically looking for your car keys.

2. Make a list of all the things you intend to accomplish for the day

Many people believe in the power of lists! By writing down all your goals for the day, you are more likely to get them done. Doesn’t it feel good to cross something off and feel that sense of accomplishment?

3. Get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off

I know, I know...easier said than done, right? One trick many people use is to place their alarm clock far away from their bed or across the room. If you use your phone as your alarm, the same thing would apply. By doing this, you are obligated to get up and turn it off when it goes off. Another plus is you won’t have the urge to scroll on your phone in bed (which can also cause you to be late).

4. Give yourself small breaks

While it is important to get things done for the day, make sure to give yourself breaks. Breaks can be used to stretch out, go for a light walk, scroll on your phone, or grab a quick snack. Overworking yourself can lead to burning out, which can actually hurt productivity.

5. Use your phone calendar

We have our phone everywhere we go. If you aren’t already, start putting dates and tasks on your phone calendar. Your calendar allows you to set up an alarm for that task, and it also gives you a bird’s eye view of the week/ month. This will make setting up activities faster and more efficient.

These are just a few ways you can make your day more productive, but there are many more tricks you can use. Ask other people what they do to manage their time or read a book on time management. One thing doesn’t work for everybody, and it is important to understand how you function the best. Find out what works for you and get out there!

Carpe Diem!
